QuietStar recently installed a bespoke double acoustic doorset at Glyntaff Crematorium in south Wales. When originally constructed in 1924, Glyntaff crematorium was the only functioning crematorium in the whole of Wales.
Following a detailed site survey and analysis of the acoustic performance required to meet their objectives, a newly designed door was presented.
Manufactured using steel rather than timber allowed a 56dB acoustic rating to be achieved. In addition to the increased acoustic performance, the new acoustic door also needed to meet current fire protection regulations. As QuietStar are able to provide acoustic fire doors, matched to our standard acoustic door range there was no need for the client to compromise.
To meet the current regulations, a 60 minute fire protection was required.
To support the weight of the new double door, QuietStar designed and installed a bespoke steel box-section frame.
