New Paediatric Audiology Facility for Worthing Hospital
Following a donation from a patient, Worthing Hospital approached QuietStar to design, supply and commission a new state of the art paediatric audiology test room. Designed to meet the needs of a modern clinical diagnostic department, the new facility was commissioned in February 2019.
Following an enquiry from the Head of the Audiology Department, QuietStar visited the current facility and carried out a full survey. By doing this, the extent of the project was understood fully.
QuietStar always carry out a detailed site survey before any project. Our approach is to understand the needs of the customer, ensuring that we are able to fulfil expectations, whilst adhering to often strict budgets. In the case of this project, our detailed knowledge of the site and technical proposal was what ensured our bid was successful.

How We Build The New Audiology Room
The new paediatric audiology room at Worthing Hospital is a fully isolated floating design within the host structure. By constructing using this method, it significantly reduces structure-borne noise and vibration which could affect any testing within the room.
To achieve such a design, QuietStar installed a floating acoustic floor, acoustic doors and acoustic windows. Both the doors and windows needed to align with the current openings. To improve patient comfort, QuietStar installed a fully silent air conditioning system, complete with fresh air intakes and temperature control. Our expert engineers and installation teams are used to utilising existing services, whilst ensuring no compromise to the acoustic performance of a facility.
Upon completion of the build, the room was commissioned by an independent acoustic consultant, approving the facility for audiology testing against ISO 8253.
Aside from the acoustics, QuietStar also installed a dimmable LED lighting system, power and data points, plus fire and security sensors. Working closely with the client our installation package also included full wiring for all of the audiological equipment and VRA system.
